I love seeing people that you know you would write off as over the top or unrealistic in a novel, because it really gives you a license to write anything.

Case in point: the pretty Indian punk girl on the bus with a septum piercing, hair dyed bright lime green and the blue of blue cotton candy, her eyes lined with thick cats eye liner.

Possibly, in a novel, she could be the girlfriend of the white guy with the huge Mohawk wearing a pink tshirt and driving the gourmet Indian street food truck I saw downtown.
