Back Home
So I'm back home, and just got back from the grocery store with Judith and Andy (who's real name is Andreas). They are too adorable for words! Judith looks very different from last time I saw her, which is understandable, as she's now 17. Andy is very tall. (They both have trouble buying clothes in Germany, Judith because she's tiny, and Andy because he's so tall). They are the cutest couple. They've traveled all over together, Italy, of course (from the sound of it Judith's family visits their grandparents there a lot) and Portugal, Nuremburg, etc. The sleeping arrangement issue was solved thus: They slept in separate rooms the first night, which is what Mom had decided on, but this morning Judith came and asked if she and Andy could sleep in the same room, because he is her best friend and they talk together all the time and share everything, and she practically lives at his house during the weekends, and they are never apart. 'You can call my father and ask.' She offered. My mom asked if they wanted the same bed or separate ones, and she said 'Oh no, separate beds.' They are so adorably inseparable. And I think it's even more magnified because they are in a foreign country and don't speak the language fluently. But both of them speak English very well, especially Judith. (She also speaks Italian, French, and some Spanish). MOm told me they just finished Deathly Hallows.
They gave me a CD of a band, who they told me is one of the few German bands who sing in German that you can listen to. I suavely brought up Tokio Hotel, it the 'I saw this German band on TV, the singer looked like a girl...' They looked at each other, horrified. 'Tokio Hotel...' they whispered. They grimaced. 'I'm sorry!' Andy said fervently. Judith repeated it. They explained to me, with much wincing that they are this band like the Backstreet Boys, but they want to be completely different so they are a rock band, and they are very popular in France and everyone is always screaming for them and it's 'really annoying'. 'All the fourteen year olds listen to them.' They explained dismissively. They seemed very ashamed that such a band existed and I had to be subjected to it. And they're a year or two younger than the band members. How much would it suck to be an embarassment to your peers like that?
But anyway, they are so adorable, and deserve one of those smooshed names, like Jandy or Andith.
EDT: And they continue to be adorable. At the bbq, they were super jetlagged after a while, and Judith was really spacing out, and Andy tapped her on the face and she playfully slapped him back. Finally she succumbed and was resting with her head in his lap, and when they sat up and I looked away as he leaned in and whispered to her in lovingly intimately bemused German and I don't know what he said, but you could hear such tenderness in his voice, and then they kissed. It made me kind of uncomfortable since I was sitting next to them on the couch, but seriously, so much cuteness. They are completely in that teenage 'cannot bear to be parted for one moment because we are each other's worlds' love.
