Mission Accomplished!
Dec. 5th, 2004 12:48 pmWell, I have accomplised all I set out to do yesterday!
I found a dress for the party, a simple, pretty white very Japanese-y (in an I bought it at 108 the mecca of Kogals kind of way), and shoes, which turned out to be the most expensive shoes I've bought ever, but I really love them, so I suppose it's ok. Also, I didn't know how much they were till I bought them - I accidently read the wrong price tag. The dress I had help on from a very cute salesgirl at LizLisa, who kept following me around and telling me what was popular, and giving me critiques and accessory suggestions. I am so weak for helpful and friendly cute salesgirls. Along with my Christmas Party (or, as Azusa calls them, kuripa) purchases, I also bought a white turtleneck sweater with holes for your shoulders to stick out, and a pleated jean miniskirt, which I had been wanting for a while. I also bought a pair of earring made from peacoak feather tips because they were cheap (relatively) and oh so Art Deco.
Then, after getting lost for an hour on one street, I went to my hair appointment at Sim Dem. It was a great place!! The girl who cut my hair, Misako, was very good, talking to me about the style I had wanted, and what would look good with my hairtype and my face etc. My hair is not actually bobbed, but it just barely touches my shoulders and it all layers especially around the sides and front, which reaches my chin, so if I pull back the long bottom it will look bobbed which will be fun too. The girl who did my color, for free, since she's in training, was named Risa, and she was also very nice. At first I was just going to have her do my roots, but she said that with my new haircut if I had it all one color it would look too heavy, so she decided to put in highlights and lowlights. The head colorist, this rather sharp Australian woman, came and consulted with her, and warned her that will my hair type, they'd have be pretty chunky to show at all. The girl who was my hair was named Yumi-chan, and she was cute and boyish with short hair and a bit my type. There was also another hairdresser who was also pretty hot. So anyway, after my hair was finally all dyed, and washed, Risa asked if she could straighten it with an iron in order to check the highlights better. I said that was fine. So Risa and Yumi straightened my hair together, and finally I was done! My hair is perfectly silky and straight, how I never would have believe it could be. (Of course when I wash it it will go back to normal, but). The haircut is wonderful, really good, and the color (you can definately see the chunky highlight when it's straight, it reminds me of old school Namie) is a color I would never have done myself -kind of a goldish sandy blonde with ash highlights and brown lowlights, but I'm actually very pleased with it, and every says that it suits me really well. It was also a lot of fun to chat with Misako and Risa about Namie, and people living in Japan for 10 years but still not being able to speak English, etc. They were all really nice and told me to come back next time. They were not only really nice, but also really Good, so if I ever get my hair cut in Japan I will definately come back!! It was great!! And also long. The whole process took 5 hours!!!
I will try to get a picture while it'S still straight, I look SO different!!
