"Thigh of an Excited Nymph"
Sep. 12th, 2008 09:28 am...is what the French call the color we call 'hot pink'.
I love colors. When I was a kid, I used to cut out the color examples from catalogues (you know, where they show you all the colors you can get that set of towels in, for example) and paste them on a piece of paper. I used to love going to the hardware store, because I could take the paint chips. I don't know, I was a strange child.
But imagine my glee then, to find this fic challenge: http://community.livejournal.com/100colors/profile
Basically it's like fic100, except all the prompts are colors.
At the end of the prompt page it links to Wikipedia's list of colors. Which in turn, links to the equivalent pages in several languages, including French and Japanese. Hours of entertainment.
I also found a link to the list of 465 traditional Japanese colors. (Which begins with Sakura-iro (cherry blossom pink) and ends with Ankokushoku (Blackest Night Black). I love these colors!
My favorite color name in English, btw, has always been Alice Blue, a very light blue, named in honor of Alice Roosevelt.
Not that anyone probably care about any of this.^^; But anyway.
