Last night I went to a small house party with Sarah at her boyfriend Nathan and his Pete Wentz look a like roommate Derek's house. I had such a good time. I never went to many parties, not even in college, but I think I really like them. I really like chatting with people, and forming those connections that are so spur of the moment and deep because you'll never see that person again, especially as people float in and out of the party. It's funny how strangers can inspire you to talk about random intimate details of your life, interspersed with deep conversations on various topics, and musings on everything from Ren & Stimpy to the capacity of the human brain to visualize things and learn them just as well as actually doing them. You get this tiny snapshot of all these other people's interesting lives. The night and the atmosphere and inspire this strange sort of camaraderie. It's an entirely different space that gets created.
For the first time in years, I went to bed at 3:30 AM.
Sarah and I woke up at 8:45 and went to breakfast, where I had delicious Chicken Fried Steak. Then we walked to Powell (it was a beautiful morning, and I loved passing all the gorgeous victorians and people with walking their dogs) and did some shopping.
Then I met Robert to go to see the 12:30 showing of Public Enemies. But the mall floorplan was so convoluted, with elevators going to every floor but the theatre, that we spent almost an hour wandering around the mall guided by the mall map and various mall staffers, like we were in some sort of quest RPG. By the time we got up to the theater it was 1:10. So we saw the only thing playing then, which was The Ugly Truth. It was surprisingly entertaining.
Then we had lunch at 'Wich Craft', home of the bay leaf hot chocolate I used to enjoy so much when I worked at DHC.
All in all a super fun day!!
