Breakfast is important and tasty

In other words, people should watch this clip of 'Breakfast Money', which is the cartoon show Gerard created and pitched the Cartoon Network before deciding he wanted to do something meaningful with his life and started MCR. I am so amused.
I had a very fun-filled weekend. On Friday Joely and I went to a ska show in Hartford. I was very participative. There were several bands. At first there was like no one there (except for several people with their laptops) so we just sat at a table. I decided that ska reminds me of the swing scene like it's depicted in 'Swing Kids', the whole subculture revolving around a certain fashion and music and dancing, esp because it feels old fashioned like that, somehow. The first band was called 'Kick the Van', and both singers were girls, and they were great. I loved their voiceds and the lead singer looked like an Emo Candice Cameron. Ska sounds very nice when sung by girls, unlike Punk. The next band was called 'Stealing from Peter', and they were very good too. Their lead singer (apparently named Tony?) had a good voice, and was very charismatic, and hot. He played shirtless for part of it. Hee. We bought their live CD for $3, and pins and a sticker, because the guy at merch was really nice. Yay. The next band was a punk band called 'The Code'. They were all really femme. Esp the bassist, who had shiny shiny gauges in his ears. They were very awesome in their shininess. They were not bad, only not ska, and quite yelly. Their last song was an 'anti-homophobic song', for their bassist, who took off his pants and played in only a thong, but it was ok, cuz he was pretty. The lead singer, and the other guitarist grabbed his ass. I was amused. After, I wanted to know their name, so I went over when the lead singer was putting stuff away, and said, 'Excuse me. I didn't catch your guys' name...' He came over to me, and put his head clothes to mine. I thought he was leaning over so he could hear what I said, so I started to ask again, but he leaned over and whispered in my ear, 'The Code.' I told them they were awesome and gave him the thumbs up, for some reason, but he smiled (I think) and gave it back to me. I felt special. Heh heh. Then came the big bands of the night, the first being 'The Mustard Plugs'. They were very good, and it was a lot of fun dancing to them. At one point people had a congo line going. A boy with a feathered hat grinned and motioned for me to join, and I wanted to, but I didn't. Then on the next loop around, the same boy put his hands on my shoulders and made me the front of the congo line! It was neat. He danced with me and Joely again at one point. Then after a break the 'Pietasters' played. The lead singer and the guitar player always amuse me cuz he's always hanging on the guitarist who is always looking like 'Oh geez, not again...'. They are very cool and old fashioned sounding. This really drunk guy had talked to us during the break and his brother and him danced with us for most of the set. It was fun, because they were good dancers, but also kind of weird, and by the end I got kind of weirded out, even though the dancing was fun, so Joely and I went and sat on the stairs a bit, before we left. But anyway, weirdness at the end aside, it was a lot of fun!! XD Yay
On Saturday Mirai, Megucchi, Mana, Jeff and I went into NY to go Karaoke with a bunch of people from Mirai's school. On the train in we made up casting for a movie version of the day, which was as follows:
Me: Cameron Diaz
Mana: Ashlee Simpson
Mirai: Julia Roberts
Megucchi: Ashwari Rai
Jeff: Adrian Brody.
We ate lunch at Grand Central. I had sushi and kaiso salad and it was so yummy. Next time we must get gelato, Megguchi. XD I love Grand Central. Also NY is so nice in Spring. Then we went to Book-Off where I looked for NANA, (and Garasu no Kamen) but suprisingly they didn't have any. So instead I got a random series called Magnolia Waltz by Saitoh Chiho, and the S-Cawaii with Namie on the cover. Then we went to karaoke, where we met up with a bunch of Mirai's classmates. It was so much fun. We sang from about 1 pm to 7 pm, I think. As always Mirai sounded wonderful, and Mana was the Queen of Emo. Song highlights include SPEED's 'Don't be afraid','I just wanna live' which I did my Joel impression to, 'I'm not okay', which killed my voice, the worst emo song ever 'Secrets' by Mana (the fault of the song, not Mana-chan, LOL), Hana kagari by Mirai, 'Long Way Home' by the two of us, and many many others. Although my throat hurts today. I now have much respect for Joel, and empathize with his horrible concert!throat-ness on the Bootlegs live CD. Imagine doing that every night for months and months... Then we went ate dinner at some pizza restuarant, where I had possibly the best Creme Caramel every. Yay. Then Mana and I sang songs loudly on the train home, and annoyed everyone else. Hee. It was great to spend time with everyone!
