One nation, indivisable...
Nov. 4th, 2009 08:38 amDespite all outward appearances.
Today I was out at 6:55 AM to cast my vote for the next president of this country. There were about 15 people before Cy and I, which is something, considering the last time I voted, there was maybe 3.
The excitement and anxiety is palpable. I had a chat with the poll lady while I was waiting to vote, and she was so bright and hopeful, and then, on my way to the train station, I passed a guy who, like me, had a sticker that proudly proclaims 'I voted!'. We grinned at each other as we passed.
If you can - and there should be no excuse, because it's illegal for your place of work to persecute you for voting - get out, and vote. It's important. Probably more important than anything else, right now.
