Live 8 thoughts

So, I'm sure everyone knows this, because it's been broadcast all over the place, but today is the worldwide Live 8 concert, charity concerts aimed at puting an end to poverty in the world, based on the first Live Aid which took place in the '80's. There are concerts all over - ours is in Philly, the one in France is at Versailles, which I think is just really cool, and nicely ironic. Japan's is at Makihara Messe, which I know because Namie kicked off her tour there once. GC is performing (performed, actually because of the time/date change), and as always I'm proud that our boys are in Japan. There weren't too many artists at the Japanese concert - the only Japanese onces were Dreams Come True and Rize. I found the selection a bit odd. Granted DCT is one of Japan's legendary groups now, and one to try and break the US market (not that that should matter as this is a worldwide event), but I don't know much about Rize. Mostly I'm surprised not to see people like Ayu or Namie there. Especially Namie, because she performed at the G8 Summit back when Clinton was president, and she's often been the frontwoman for charity related events: The charity CD TK put out for 9/11,MTV Asia Aid for the tsunami victims (personally, she also donated thousands of dollars to the tsunami victims). So it would have been nice to see her in Live 8 as well.
