On Thursday I went with Joely and Col to good old Webster to see Stealing from Peter. It was Col's first show, and at first he seemed pretty overwhelmed/scared. The Underground is pretty dark and kind of sketchy looking inside (especially the butt-raping couch) and while Joely and I laughed about how we seemed to be the oldest people there at first, I'm sure everyone was really old and adult to Col. But after a while he got into it, and by the end, he was even dancing with Joely and I. It was so cute to watch him having fun like that! Everyone else their seemed to think so too. LOL I went up and 'helped' he tell the singer of the first band that he had really liked them, and the guy had this huge sweet smile on his face when Col said it, like it made him really happy. The first band were pretty good. I actually liked the second band a lot (apparently they are called 'Johnny 9 & the Racers'); aside from the music being good, the lead singer was just so funny and good-natured and endearing. You could tell how earnest he was about all of it. We ended up having to leave before StP came on, because it turned out they weren't on till 10:30 (!), but that was ok, because it was still a lot of fun. The only thing was that I started to get a cramp in my side after dancing a little, which was pretty pitiful. I need to start dancing again, so I don't get any more out of shape than I already am!
On Friday I went karaoke with Mana-chan and Jeff, their professor Yamada-sensei, and three of his students. Mirai was the one who had planned it all and supposed to come, but she had to have her wisdom teeth out, so she couldn't come, which I felt really sorry for her about. Ouch. But we still had a lot of fun. First we went to BookOff, and then headed to karaoke. I hadn't been in a while, but it was just as much fun as ever. I think a highlight might have been BoA's 'Valenti' which the three of us all chiming in with the 'ahhh' and 'oooh' and 'whoooooa's at the end of the song. LOL I'm not sure if Yamasa-sensei's (who was very nice, and likes Okinawan things like Da Pump) students had much fun, it seemed to be their first time at karaoke and they didn't sing much, but we had enough fun to make up for all of them. During karaoke, they were playing some really old (around genie in a bottle period) Christina Aquilera documentary video. I'd forgotten that she's also a dancer. I actually enjoyed the scenes of her practicing her routines and things. I think that kind of thing will always hold a lot of magic for me. LOL After karaoke, we went back to BookOff once more, and this is when I found my two lucky finds! I found a copy of my favorite cake cookbook which I lost for only $6! And, that 'Tokyo Babylon 1999' live action movie which I've been looking for ever since I knew it existed. So that was pretty cool.
