On Saturday we went up to Telegraph and did some Xmas shopping (well, Cy did) and went to Zebra where we got hair dye for Cy and I got my belly button ring changed to a nice festive red one. (Hopefully it won't get infected this time. It's the first time I've changed since that last infection cleared up months ago. But it has been almost a year since I got it done, so hopefully it will be okay) Then we had Indian food, and went home. I dyed Cy's hair, and then made a yummy roast chicken (and tofu turkey) dinner.
On Sunday we had a Christmas cookie making party with Uncle Donald. We made Christmas cookies, watched A Christmas Carol (I almost cried during it! LOL) and Elf, and also some Jonas, and had yummy tortilla pie that Cy made. It was so much fun!
I can't find it right now, but I swear there was a 'writer's block' the other day about whether you enjoy Christmas more as a kid or an adult, and how the way you celebrate changes. I don't know if you enjoy it less, per se, but there's definitely this transition where it's not about toys anymore. The holidays become about family and spending together. So I know I do enjoy it in a different way now.
But I think it can also be hard because it gets laden with all these expectations and nostalgia, and it can be hard to deal with if it doesn't meet those expectations. I remember feeling pretty let down by Christmas last year.
I hope I'll have a good Christmas this year. I want to try and make the most of it.
